United Way wishes to thank our generous contributors who support local human services needs all year long through donations, pledges of workplace payroll deductions, corporate and foundation gifts, in-kind assistance and volunteer services. You ARE the United Way!
United Way Sets 2011-12 Campaign Goal
The 2011-12 Campaign goal is $400,000. Will you help us reach that goal? We are currently at 72% of that goal.
Our current goal is $400,000. Last year, we received $383,000 in requests for funding. In order to fund these programs and services at a higher percentage, we’ve set our 2011 goal at $400,000 and are moving steadily in that direction. Pledges and donations are still rolling in and we would like to recognize the following workplaces who have exceeded what they gave last year:

Many of you know that United Way does more than just raise money, we support the two counties is several ways
- Coordinate Workplace Giving Campaigns in over 100 local businesses, schools, including city and county employees.
- Distribute those funds to non-profit organizations
- Currently distributing $220,591 from the 2010 Campaign
- Provide technical assistance to local non-profits
- Training and individual support, non-profit resource library, grant review services.
- Act as a referral center for service needs and resource sharing
- Participation in community Chambers of Commerce, events and activities
- Coordinate Emergency Food and Shelter Program funding for Umatilla County
- This brought $14,769 for emergency assistance to local non-profits who provide emergency food and shelter.
- Distribute FamilyWize prescription discount cards.
Your dollars buy
- Food for food boxes, student backpacks and hot meals for seniors and low/no income families;
- Emergency response with basic needs services for fire victims;
- Emergency assistance with utilities, prescriptions, clothing, and household items;
- Pre-school and day care for low income families;
- Programs to build successful kids Camps, workshops, alcohol & drug free activities, community enhancement projects;
- Safe shelter, counseling and advocacy for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse;
- Temporary housing for young women want to finish high school, but can’t live at home;
- Treatment for alcohol and/or drug addicted parents;
- One on one tutoring and mentoring for struggling readers, foster children, or children with at least one parent incarcerated;
- Senior companions to assist the elderly and disabled to stay in their own homes;
- Affordable housing;
- Therapy for families struggling with a teen who is at risk for involvement with the juvenile justice system, dropping out of school, or substance abuse;
- Assistance with managing finances for seniors and disabled individuals;
- End of life care for patients who want to remain at home and ongoing support for their families.
- Bereavement camp for children grieving the loss of a parent.
- Respite care for parents of at-risk children.

- Help one individual or a family get back on their feet;
- Give one child the support system and safe environment to help them make smart choices and gain the skills to become one of tomorrow’s leaders;
- Keep a person or family off the street;
- Give a senior something to look forward to each day;
- Keep a child from going to bed hungry at night.
